In case of booked visits groups receive priority entry and have the option to add a guided tour to their visit. Group visits and guided tours must be booked at least ten days prior to your visit.
Guided tours are an optional service and you may book one or visit without it. The maximum number of people to enter the museum at the same time is 30, any group larger than that, will be divided into two and may enter with 10-15 difference approx.
Groups may visit without booking, but in that case they may have to cope with significant waiting time.
Booked groups may only pay together. No individual payment is possible in case of group visits!
VISITOR GUIDELINES
Dear Visitors,
Please adhere to the following rules when visiting the museum.
IT IS PROHIBITED TO BRING INTO THE BUILDING: vehicles of any kind, including bicycles, scooters (except small folding scooters for children no larger than 90 cm, which must be deposited in the cloakroom), live animals (except assistance dogs with distinctive signs), knives and cutting instruments, or anything that could endanger the safety or security of the exhibits, visitors or staff members.
ACCESS TO THE MUSEUM WILL BE DENIED: Persons under the influence of alcohol, intoxicants or stimulants, or persons arriving in inadequate clothing (e.g. barefoot, swimwear). Our security guards may take action against those who behave in a way that violates or endangers the safety of our visitors and museum staff, or who act in a derogatory or threatening manner, including the suspension of the right to be in the museum.
NO SMOKING: Cigarettes (not even electronic ones) are not permitted throughout the museum. Smoking is only allowed outside the main entrance, at least 5 meters from the entrance.
CLOAKROOM: For security reasons, the use of the cloakroom is free of charge and compulsory in the following cases:
Please deposit your luggage, umbrella and bag larger than A3 size in the cloakroom.
Backpacks - regardless of size - may be worn, all backpacks must be handed into the cloakroom. The contents of bags may be checked by security staff.
In addition to the above, it is prohibited to bring food into the exhibition area. Drinks may only be brought into the exhibition area in a tightly closed bottle.
There are also lockers available for bags and small coats, which are free of charge but operate with a 100 HUF coin. Lockers left locked will be opened and emptied after the museum closes.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO: Visitors are not allowed to take photographs and record videos except for the tank on the ground floor.
CLOSING TIME: The cashiers’ close at 5:30 pm. during normal opening hours. Visitors are kindly requested to leave the exhibition area at the arrival of the closing staff and retrieve their items from the cloakroom until 5.50 pm and to leave the building until at 6 pm
MOBILE PHONES: Please do not disturb other visitors in the exhibition areas by talking loudly, and please silence your mobile phone and do not use it for talking.
VISITING WITH CHILDREN: Minors are also welcome in the museum but for safety and security reasons, the following rules shall be followed:
Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the museum. Parents, caretakers, or guardians are responsible for child supervision and to ensure the protection of exhibits, the exhibition area and any property, as well as for the physical safety and the behaviour of the minor within the museum. Please be respectful of other visitors during your visit to the exhibitions and cooperate with the security guards when being warned.
VISITING WITH A GROUP OR FAMILY: The group leaders, accompanying teachers and parents are responsible to ensure that all group members or children comply with the visitor guidelines.
Should you disagree with the above rules, you may ask for the refund of the entrance fee, before entering the exhibition area. This is possible with the receipt, in case it has not been validated, within 30 minutes of purchase, during the opening hours of the ticket office.
If a visitor refuses to comply with the museum rules or any directions given under them, our security staff is authorised to refuse admission and to ask the visitor to leave the building.
